Currently, the Towny Resources are both an bless and a curse. Disregarding the gambling aspect of it as you can extract a good resource like Diamonds or Oil or end up up extracting something as garbage as Feathers or Zinc Dust, Towny Resources allow, as long as the requirements are met - a certain number of claimed chunks for each tier to be available to scan and a certain number of residents for each tier to produce - for an endless and renewable production of resources.
Normally, this would be a problem which would lead to a market saturation. However, the constant flux into sieges (whether regional sieges or town sieges) as well as the frequent oblivion of the higher ranks of the major nations to said collection have proven to be efficient on said combat.
Taking in count the recent address to the slimefun machine Geominer by the lastest T-Helper, Murph, I believe an possible rework on said mechanism would be by repurposing the Geominer (and the Geoscanner counterpart) for it.
The new Geominer, still capable of extracting resources in the wilderness, would be suitable to extract Resource-type Crates from all the chunks within a 2-3 radius.
This Resource-type Crates would be crates with a funtion similar to the current Party Vote Crate, being, however, restricted to a type of Resources (Dusts, Food, Ores, Common Blocks, etc...), depending of the type of Resource Crate it is.
The type of Resource Crates that could be generated would depend of the biome said chunk is part of, like it currently is, and would be picked daily randomly and with equal chances from the pool of possible Resources of that biome, unlike it currently is with an pre-fixated resource.
In the other hand, the max amount of Resource-type Crates each chunk could produce would be defined by the current tier of Resource Extraction Scanning, like it currently is.
This also means that there would be a daily renewability of the extractable Resource-type Crates for the chunks within a town (as long as the chunks are part of the town for 24h or more). This renewability would be dictated by the amount of residents, from a min. 50% with 1 resident to up to 75% with infinite residents, unlike it currently is.

- Repurpose of the Geominer and the Extraction mecanism for the production of Crates similar to the Party Vote Crates for the various type of resources across the claimed chunks of a town which could vary from day to day
