A sonic boom for fighter jets when they reach a certain speed would be really cool if everyone could hear it from like the same range you could hear a dreadnought's cannons firing. Just something that'd be neat. Is it immersive? Nah. Is it cool? Heck yeah, at least I think so.

I know it's supposed to be a WW1 setting, but even the plane's flight sounds are that of a jet.

But to reach a certain speed all you need to do is click a single button it’s not like acceleration this wouldn’t work

I don't follow what you're trying to say. It would trigger once the afterburners were activated. It could also have a certain timer for when the next time it can play would be so that people can't spam it.
