Before I start, I want to acknowledge that many people (regardless of their affiliations) tend to disregard their opponents' suggestions simply because they are enemies. I want to ask that everyone that reads this suggestion to do so with an attempt to stay unbiased and logical, because we are all attempting to have fun on the server. Do not upvote it simply because I am an ally, and do not downvote it simply because I am an opponent.
The purpose of this suggestion is to convince others that Friendly Fire should be disabled.
No matter its original purpose, the introduction of friendly fire has considerably nerfed the use of guns in team fights, particularly in siege regions. While guns are certainly not perfect, I do not believe there is fair reason to nerf the use of guns in these regions.
Many complaints about gunspamming in teamfights can be summed up as such:
1. Gunspamming takes no skill. (Usually used by more experienced vanilla pvpers)
-(Common subpoint: "it is unfair")
2. It is not "pvp", and thus should not be included in a "pvp" region.
3. It overly favours the side with more people.
4. Realism ("if the server has 1 shot cannons to simulate real life, why should pvp not be the same")
================================================= 1 =================================================
The argument that gunspamming takes no skill is categorically false. Skill is a subjective concept, everyone has a different opinion on it; and different playstyles have varying definitions of skill. IE-Vanilla pvp requires aim, movement, and fast potting, but Crystal pvp requires the ability to think fast, to click quickly and the recognition of when to use totems. Gunspamming, no matter how opposed you are to it, also takes skill. It requires the user to be able to keep an adequate distance to maximize the potential of the gun, to pot with decent speed, good aim and (much like other playstyles) fast thinking to support your teamates and escape difficult situations. If a gunspammer does not possess such attributes, they are easily overwhelmed and killed.
The complaint that gunspamming takes no "skill" simply indicates a complete inability to adapt to new situations and strategies. It is comparable to a potion pvper complaining that a crystal pvper blew them up without leaving them the chance to pot when they are playing on a crystal pvp server (guns are more than pottable when both sides have about equal members-something I will get to later).
Many people who use this argument are those who are directly benefited by the nerfing of gunspamming in team fights. People like ijustcall and carb, for example (although this complaint is certainly not unique to the alliance), shine in moments where they can utilize their superior vanilla pvp skills to achieve kills. While it is understandable that they feel robbed of these oppurtunities due to the nature of guns, the purpose of this server is not to provide them with such chances, but rather to introduce the novelty of guns in minecraft. If you really cannot coexist with how guns on this server work, choosing a different server that focuses on vanilla pvp may be more ideal. (It should also be noted that complaints about guns only arise during/after sieges which one side has lost, including this suggestion, which could mean that people only see guns as problematic when you lose to them. When callisto was sieged and attacking pvpers could not go out due to the amont of suppressing gunfire, carb made no such complaints, but coalition did. However, when coalition won the American siege region, carb complained. In both of these cases both side used guns. TLDR; I'm calling us all hypocritical. I know that won't earn this suggestion any favours but that is the way it is.)
You could also counter by saying that machine guns and pistols do not take skill because you can spam them over your teamates with no problem, but it should be noted that gunshots that hit your teamates prior to the introduction of friendly fire did no damage to enemies, and the wasted ammo and reload time is more than enough consequence. Why would you be upset about your opponents doing absolutely nothing?

Fortunately, number two does not need or deserve a long response. It can be very easily refuted if you simply google the term "PvP".
For those of you too lazy to do it anyways, here is the definition ripped straight from the google homepage.
"(PvP) is short for player versus player."
Just because it is not your prefered style of pvp does not mean it is not pvp.

A simple one as well. Any fight where one side outnumbers the other is lopsided. Nerfing guns by turning on friendly fire, as we have seen in the recent Scandinavia siege, does not give those who are outnumbered a more even chance, because people are smart enough to not shoot their teamates.
In fact, whereas guns could be used as a way for a smaller amount of players to combat a larger one with more ease, this nerf has made outnumbers in siege regions much more lopsided. The previous failures of the attempts of the alliance to capture the American siege region cannot be used as an argument here, because they handicapped themselves by not using guns at all/not using them effectively due to less experience.

I have nothing to say about number 4. If you believe that every single aspect of a game made out of pixels and blocks should adhere to the real world no matter the imbalance these changes will bring, you will probably not have read until here anyways.
I want to emphasize that this suggestion is not reactionary to the loss of the Scandinavian region (unlike some other previous suggestions about nerfing guns so clearly driven by copium that I almost overdosed just by reading them), but because I genuinely believe that disabling friendly fire and thus returning guns (possibly with nerfs to reload and damage) to siege regions would be more fair and fun to everyone involved. I hope that no matter how much you dislike me, my team, or my ideas that you will appreciate this sentiment and give a genuine response to this suggestion. Peace out.
