Voting and free money is driving inflation, what we need is to replace the reward given by voting and lower the amount of money you get from it. In return, AH tax can be lowered over time to encourage commerce.
Instead, voting should give Missions:
- They would have higher rewards per difficulty and would be:
- Player vs Player (i.e. sink a dreadnought), (Kill X people at X region).
- Grinding tasks
- Exploration tasks
- And whatever you can think of.
This would reduce the money into the economy but would also create a currency of bonds, people would sell these missions at discounted rates in attempt to make money off tasks they cannot do, this would also give other people incentive to profit.
In addition, Regional income should be lowered significantly. If a region is not sieged for a while, the region's money should go down (to reduce joke sieges) reducing inflation.
Nodes and Regions:
- To access AH you have to use a craft within a region, as Regions are distributed better, it shouldn't be a big issue. In addition, the nation owning that region would be able to set a tax or VAT (minimum 3% for allies, 5% for neutral/enemy). This essentially acts as a way to encourage Movecraft action around the clock and makes Cargo companies important.
- AH materials should take time to be delivered, encouraging more trade.
We must accept, to have a fun server we cant have everything easy. Challanges is what makes things enjoyable and fun to do. Being easy removes elements of triumph success and also much needed failure to balance the emotions. We complain about the server 'dying' and the server being boring but cry everytime a minute amount of difficulty is added. Difficulty and challenges is the basis of all games.
