This is an oppinion but ccnet grinding is super boring as everyone is always in their towns in a room just moving stuff from machine to machine, I think it would be more fun if there were grinding events you could start like you go to places in the map do something and bring those items back, all along the way you could be attacked but that makes it all the more fun and adventure like

So would it kind of be like grab-and-go events where you can get stuff from X location, but people who don't want to do that can just be naval pirates?

I agree with the fact that grinding is done all in one room, but for larger nations, these rooms can be huge, so it's not like they're in a 5x5x5 box grinding for an entire nation, a lot of nations need substantial infrastructure to maintain their industrial capabilities.
