Differenciate between town owner and town mayor Back

What title says. I don't think people want to give up all their hard work made into their town to a random that might destroy it. I know it's not forced by the game to have a different government than autocracy and that monarchy kind of gives partially what I'm asking for, but some people might want to have a mayor in their town to handle the people but without losing the town.

Towny only designates one mayor.
Forcing every mayor to be completely subservient under the "town owner" doesn't sound ok.

It saps all the volatility out of a geopolitical server and would effectively lead to all towns in a nation belonging to the nation leader.

I don't think piggy meant to enforce town holderes but simply wanted to enforce another rank called town mayor. I think hes talking about if for example: the town owner is busy with irl stuff for months or studies, the town or owner could elect a town mayor (similar to comayor) but just 1 man in control. A position based to replace the town owner in a sense but the town owner still owns the town itself and doesnt hand over full mayorship

Then just use the comayor rank - this makes literally no sense. The comayor rank is identical to mayor, already exists, and doesn't give up control.

The mayor is the town owner and always will be.

What I wanted to say is in case you turn into a republic or direct democracy, the mayor gets elected. Which means you stop owning the town. I don't like this

What I propose is to have a rank of "town owner" or owners, which is the one that has been paying the upkeep and built the town in general.
The person elected could roleplay as a mayor, do stuff that mayors do but won't be able to grief the town, nuke it, make extreme changes to the town. I know most of this stuff is voted, but not the extreme changes in buildings for example.

Basically, allow people to own towns (as they stay in that town, not talking about holding other towns) and allow the elected mayor to have the roleplay of republic and direct democracies without losing your town forever. My objective with this: I want to give mayor to the members so they can play around so I don't have to handle people and instead dedicate my time to build the town.

Also I know we have monarchy and I don't have to change it, but has to try ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
