Trench gear would be armor that can mitigate bullet damage more effectively, being better for small conflicts with bandits or other towns which may only use guns (common ones, like c96s, enfields, nagant rifles, colt 1911 or mannlicher), with a somewhat moderate cost, it would give the edge on the battlefield for the town with the best technology. As for stats, i would say maybe they would be a bit better than iron armour, but much better at stopping bullets, so could withstand a few enfield shots at decent range. It may not be the most useful thing for things such as sieges, because its more pvp than guns, but for both RP and smaller conflicts it won't be completely useless.
