The oceans and canals in CCNet are a complete mess. Years of shipwrecks, random players building, floating water sources, pillars, and ruins litter the canals and oceans of CCNet and make it extremely frustrating, or sometimes even impossible, to traverse certain areas. I will list the canal issues here.
- Panama Canal: areas on either side have some debris but it isn't too bad.
- Gibraltar: Several shipwrecks around it make it impossible for large ships to pass through.
- Suez and Bab Al Mandab: Possibly the worst canal of all of them. Only a small ship can get through the canals and even then it's very tedious and ships often get stuck. Not only is the canal just not wide enough for large ships to pass through (specifically the Suez due to the numerous dead bushes and stone inside the claims), but there is debris everywhere.
I know it's a lot to ask, but some of these areas are downright unbearable to travel through and I think a rollback or at least some sort of cleanup is much needed. Yes, players can clean SOME of these areas up themselves, but that too is tedious and even expensive and doesn't guarantee a complete cleanup. The areas over water are largely unable to be claimed due to the rules, so rolling these areas back shouldn't upset anyone and would help fix an issue that has been plaguing oceangoing craft for years now.
Yes, cleanups will be needed again in the future, so to make it a bit easier, perhaps enlarge the areas around canals specifically (where possible) that are claimed so that blocks cannot be placed there. Also, perhaps when a ship sinks, once it reaches a certain depth or stage in the sinking process, ALL remaining blocks of the ship are simply deleted so that shipwrecks no longer create large debris fields.
