With the new SOI update, a point of contention has been what constitutes participating in a siege. With it being clearly defined as anything that helps either side, that caused a debacle the past weekend. A strategy that comes up during certain sieges is using naval as a means to help drill banner, forts, and etc. As answered by staff, engaging these ships is not allowed if your not a participant in the siege. That is a fine and fair decision, but can cause a little grey area on what constitutes participating such as to what your doing, and where your at. For example, a Dread can hold 27 chests, that can hold ANYTHING. This matters because if A dread transporting supplies under the guise of participating in a siege could get a free pass due to enemies not knowing when and where they can engage. Vice versa for other ship types. A way to cut any confusion from this is to implement a naval siege zone, similar to what regular PvP siege zones are. It would essentially be an extended version of the siege zone, but instead any movecraft piloted by someone who is not a participant in that zone can not shoot any sort of ammo, missiles, or torps. Implementing this will set a hard line and reduce the amount of skirmishes about this in the future. Simple, if you are the naval siege zone, you can only be engaged by defenders/attackers of the siege. If you are outside the naval siege zone, you are free game to everyone.
