we tried many things in Shimazu but Offensives are just 300% harder than defensive due to non-skilled guns. they can get 20 farmers to gun spam while those people dont even know what siege is

either remove them or nerf them like they used to be. you legit can't outplay or do anything in sieges. you can't do a good play, there's no freedom to do anything except spam guns. IMO this gun update made this server very unfun to play.

Despite the lack of grammar, despite a few other things. I understand what he's saying, I don't have time to go down the list he made and reply to all his points one by one. So this is all I'll say; For those of us who remember the siege at Trapezica, how it was just gank warfare determined by who brought the most pvpers. The current state of things represents a vast improvement for those of us who do not have the time or the inclination to train pvp. I understand the pvpers anger, as they are no longer on top due to this update. Now they may be killed by some random indeed. Zaify the decision is in your hands, if you're reading this I reccomend two things; Make a decision, maybe not now, but sometime soon. Do you want the server to be dominated by pvpers or by regular players? It's really that simple. I also advise making a final, difinitive server poll so you can check the results to make sure it's not just a bunch of bots. Thank you very much.

i said that pvpers can be outsmarted cause they need to push, gun spammer do not push, they stay in fort and camp for hours just doing pew pew. pvpers need to push, and maybe 3 experienced players can dominate 6 non ccnet experienced pvpers

and if u add ranks for parcipicating in sieges, u cant bring 20 pvpers at the same time in 1 session. plus ur side brang both gun spammers and random pvpers too. there were over 10 usernames i have never seen

Guns don't make the difference but numbers do. Of course your odds of winning a 20v10 siege are low. Guns are only the cherry on top because you have to be legitimately bad at the game to be killed SOLELY by guns. Rifle kills go hand in hand with a PvPer on the frontline taking the heat. It takes atleast 4 headshots in most cases to kill at short to medium range. If there are 15 defenders on banner and you are with 5 there is simply no chance.

Yea guns can't one-shot three shot is min without suppression (with suppression 2 shot) and machine guns can kill you with one magazine but you need to get hit from 2/3 of 100 bullet mag(lewis). Or getting hit with a full magazine of a mp 18 while having shell-shock would kill you to with full healt.

The reason I want guns is not for myself but for Conscripts. I dont like doing 4v30 with imported Lokans or Vulpex ppl. Its one of the reasons I stopped maining sword over a year ago when ppl started bringing tens of enemies vs us so we just learnt the other metas. I believe guns make nation building easier therefore I can bring militia to wars and not professional sword users with too much free time

I think that guns are a cool addition to ccnet, I have not seen any earth server with guns and they definetly should be nerfed ALOT instead of being removed. Nightmare invited ROBLOX players to ccnet to GUNSPAM players and what happened? Yeah we ALL died... since gunspamming doesn't even take skill. I got 6 kills at the Shimazu siege but then I died 3 times just cuz of gunspammers.

Honestly, add keep inventory back in siege zones, it is 100% worth it when people are literally getting down from 17hp to 1hp in some rare cases. Problem solved

I don’t think it’s fair to completely remove guns because a lot of people still enjoy guns, but I definitely think there should be some small nerfs.
Here are a few ideas for some nerfs that I think is fair for everyone:
1 - rifles are less accurate while moving. This is something a few popular shooters do (cs and val), and I think ccnet should follow this
2 - swords disable rifles for a few seconds. This used to be a feature and it should keep rifles to long range, and swords in short range
3 - stop guns from stacking damage. This is the most important feature that I think really needs to be changed. for those that don’t know, vanilla hits give the player a short time of immunity, so the player can’t be hit again until that immunity is gone. This is a vanilla feature that has been in Minecraft since its creation. This immunity usually gives the average player enough time to pot if they’re low, or stop a player from being crit out by 5 people at once and being one shot. Guns don’t have this immunity, and this is why so many people get what looks like a one shot. It’s just 2 people shooting at the same person at the same time. This is by far the least balanced feature about guns, and this immunity is essential for Minecraft pvp

I agree that guns should also suffer from Iframes like all other forms of damage do, if you disagree that's fine but at least state why, since it would raise the TTK from 0.1 to at least allow people to react to the damage and pot accordingly, mimicking the same level of survivability one would have against swords.

This would cause problems to rapid fire weapons which could either be exempt or have a lower rate of fire but higher damage per bullet.

Although I (and many other players who actively attend sieges) absolutely despise guns, we have to realize that there has to be a compromise. I think turtle's suggestions are promising.
A priority for me would be to remove guns stacking damage. It is cancer to fight players on the ground while 5 more are sniping you from their deepslate tower. You essentially have to pot every time you go below 8 hearts in order to not insta-die to a volley of gunshots, especially if you are fighting at banner. I've mostly been on the defenders side since guns were re-introduced, but I have no bias due to that. Both the coalition side and Nordic side have heavily used guns, and most of the players from both sides actually agree that guns are heavily unbalanced. However, both sides continue to use them regardless.
Overall, I think we should hold a detailed survey asking ACTUAL siege participants about specific elements of gun combat and how it has been implemented in the recent sieges. I know that Rick has previously conducted an opinion poll about guns, but it is obvious that a decent chunk of poll participants had never used guns in a combat setting or actual siege.

Also on the whole "well sieges before were just dominated by log on pvpers" argument:

I'd argue that the current guns have actually this issue worse. Not only do you no longer need to find skilled Minecraft players willing to play your server, you don't even need actual Minecraft players! Multiple players have unironically been recruited from Roblox to hold down right/left click and have an impact on siege outcomes. The best part is, these players don't even need to have Minecraft or ever played it before since the server is cracked. You can essentially turn the tides of a session and siege by bringing enough of these players. It's pretty ridiculous

I learned so much new stuff abt pvp that I didn't even know and I just got better overall and the recent siege of Shitmazu I took down an 5 ppl at the banner and killed 1 person while getting 10v1' in they're fortress.

guns were insanely annoying before, rather have them removed or buffed. Since removal won't happen, its fine as it is rn (maybe remove gun stacking tbh, dont even need the shield block to be 50% then)

Shields are garbage plus guns do way to much damage, 1 gun does 4 and a half hearts, thats HALF health.

There's nothing wrong with the gun damage, people pretend rifles take half of your health in one shot but the average headshot in a siege is 2 - 3 hearts. Make gun handling more realistic, increase reload time & recoil but reducing gun damage more than this will make them as useless as pre-update.

I agree the best thing would be making the guns more complex like making aiming harder so that it requires atleast some skill or making mags have less rounds inside but just removing them is a bad idea

Qatel pretending there isn't a wiki page that lists the damage output of every rifle in CCnet lol. I have participated in 5+ sieges since the gun update. Sniper, Sop and I shot a person with 3 headshots in a split second and they still did not die. There is no excuse to dying by solely gun damage.

@iownyi thats literally cap lol! Most of my "playtime" is me forgettin chatcraft on and it shuts down when I have no internet. If I could play 16 hours then I wouldnt have any issues with logging in sieges and fighting 24/7 like u guys pull all nighters. If anything on weekdays I barely play 1-2 hours

Gun stack damage is now gone (as per #development) and rifle recoil has been made better, these are steps in the right direction, but i personally believe the following things should also be given a thought to:

-Machine guns, particularly the Madsen (cuz that's the one I used) are wayyyy too overpowered in close range. This was the situation at the most recent Ashikaga siege's last day:
You just have people from both sides fighting at banner, and out of nowhere a Taziaq or S3sniper pulled up with a Madsen right alongside their side's pvpers, spammed it randomly at the PvP crowd and the enemy health went down to one crit death in a matter of mere 2-3 seconds (at Max), not to say if multiple Madsen gunners came what crazy killing would happen.

-The more common issue, pillbox gunners for both attacker and defenders (more so op for attackers, cuz can't bomb their siege base), although it's a very leap of faith type change, I'm all for explosions enabling in entire siege base with required rollback at the end of the siege. Or atleast some other way to prevent this.

-Pistols are also pretty op, same situation as Madsen but not of as much intensity as madsens. They need fire rate/ammo per reload nerfed.

Plus basically all points that turtle mentioned in his comment above, these certain nerfs alongside a slight overall rifle damage nerf can make a fun environment for pvpers and gunners alike.

i wouldnt really want guns to be completely removed since it makes ccnet kinda unique, but they should definitely be nerfed heavily. There are a lot of ways to do this like getting hit by sword makes you not be able to use guns for a few secs, using guns gives you some big slowness or makes you stand still, maybe put scopes on snipers so you can only use them in extremely long range and not like 5 spamming at your face pressing S from like 5-10 blocks away, or maybe even make it such that you can only either carry a sword or a gun though that wouldnt solved the problem much since the gunners camp in boxes anyway, setting their recoil very high, just carrying gun in hand also give you slowness etc. There are countless ways to nerf or optimise them which can be also be discussed

Guns should be disversified in a way that focuses on making guns unique rather than having more for the sake of it. They should each have drawbacks and advantages to use and balanced against other guns. The issue isnt guns take no skill, its that they are not satisfying. CCnet must persue non vanilla combat. A low skill ceiling isnt inherently bad and pvpers need to get a grip and stop being salty over a more inclusive server. The truth is most folk arnt pvpers and therefore guns present a familiarity ppl enjoy.

Most guns are fine as they are rn but the long range ones need nerfing because you cant so much to counter gunspammers in a deepslate box

Linn I dont think guns need nerf headshots dont stack anymore and u can just breach deepslate box with canon and get some pvper to go kill enemyes sience most people who use guns arent best at pvp.

you can just snipe ppl back in their deepslate boxes, thats what i did in livland and had no issues

i think gunspammers in a deepslate box fold pretty quickly when a cannon destroys their deepslate box.
